Billie Lourd is sharing how her mom Carrie Fisher influenced her beauty philosophy.

In a recent interview with Into the Gloss, Lourd, 34, said that her makeup and skincare routines are “a mix of what I learned from my mom and my grandma,” late actresses Fisher and Debbie Reynolds, respectively.

While Lourd recalls her grandma having “always cleansed her face at night,” she says her mom “was the opposite.”

“She never washed her face, which makes me shudder, and would go to sleep with glitter and caked-on foundation,” Lourd told the outlet. “She loved makeup, but she was really messy and rave-y with it.”

“And by the way, she was using actual arts and crafts glitter on her eyes with painting—not makeup—brushes,” she added. “When she was on set, they would have to put up signs that said, ‘This is a no glitter zone.’ It was iconic.”

Lourd also elaborated on her grandma’s beauty rituals, saying that she “literally never left the house without a full beat and a wig.”

“If I visited her, I had to call in advance so she could put on her fancy turban and glam,” the American Horror Story star recalled. “She was all about facials, always cleansed her face at night, and made sure her makeup was fully off. Her closet was lined with her wigs, and she knew how to glue the lace down like a pro. It was unbelievable.”

Ultimately, Lourd says, her beauty routine falls somewhere in between her mom and grandmother’s.

“Like my grandma, I’m now obsessed with washing my face no matter what,” she explained. “Even if I get home at 5AM after work, I take a shower, double cleanse, and do my whole skincare routine before getting into bed. But then, like my mom, I’m never boring with my makeup and I live for glitter—it’s a neutral for me.”

Lourd recently shared that her kids, son, Kingston, 6, and daughter Jackson, 3, are “obsessed” with the original Star Wars movies, which famously starred Fisher as Princess Leia, alongside Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill. The first three films of the franchise were released in 1977, 1980 and 1983, respectively.

“They’re obsessed with Star Wars. They’re so deeply obsessed,” the actress told PEOPLE exclusively at the premiere of her new film, Artificial, in New York City on Oct. 5.

Fisher reprised her Princess Leia role — this time as General Leia — in 2015’s The Force Awakens, and she later posthumously appeared in 2017’s The Last Jedi, following her death at age 60 a year prior.

In 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker, Fisher made another posthumous appearance via unused and repurposed archival footage from the prior films.

“It’s so deep in all of our veins, and it’s so fun to get to watch them watch that,” Lourd said of her children’s Star Wars love.

“It’s the most special thing of all time. I call it a high- budget home movie. It’s really amazing,” she added.
