California’s Governor Gavin Newsom, who has established his reputation as a staunch critic of Donald Trump, has taken yet another jibe at the president during his recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night talk show. The former mayor of San Francisco threw shade at Trump while indulging in a hilarious sketch involving himself and lookalike comedian Josh Meyers towards the end of the episode.

Gavin Newsom makes fun of Donald Trump

On the March 3 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Gavin Newsom featured as the celebrity guest for the night, who made sure to plug in his aversion to Donald Trump by taking a direct shot at the president.

Introduced by Jimmy Kimmel as “Donald Trump’s favorite governor,” the 58-year-old Democrat received a unique trophy at the hands of Josh Meyers, who has portrayed Newsom in several previous iterations of the show. Darting onto the stage while riding a skateboard, Meyers greeted “Gov Gav” by exclaiming, “How is it hanging G-O-double V?” before bumping his fist.

Following a brief back-and-forth, the brother of renowned talk show host Seth Meyers presented Gavin Newsom with a unique accolade, which Kimmel described as something that would make Donald Trump “very jealous.” Titled the ‘2026 FIFA Sky Dance Paramount Netflix Warner Bros. Big Ass Lipton Cup O’ Peace,’ the parody trophy openly mocked Trump receiving the inaugural ‘FIFA Peace Prize – Football Unites the World’ back in December 2025.

Alongside the gigantic cup, Meyers also brought with him “an entire magnum of this sick a– Sauv Blanc,” which he subsequently emptied into the trophy. As Newsom tried to take a sip of the wine, he turned to the camera and remarked, “Where’s Trump? You know, this is back to Trump. Eat your heart out, Donald.”

Gavin Newsom’s jibe at the president on Jimmy Kimmel’s show was shortly succeeded by the California Governor describing Donald Trump as the “personification of fraud.”
