Diane Keaton, the Father of the Bride actress who passed away on Oct. 11, 2025, has been remembered by her two children on the first anniversary of her death. Both of her children, Dexter and Duke, were adopted by Keaton when she was in her fifties. On Sunday, October 11, the two siblings each took to Instagram to pay tribute to their late mother.

As per a report shared by People, Dexter, who is now thirty years old, was born on Dec. 15, 1995, and was adopted by Keaton in 1996. Her younger brother, Duke, who is now twenty-six years old, was born on Feb. 8, 2000, and was adopted by the actress in 2001. Keaton raised both of her children on her own as a single mother.

Dexter shared a black-and-white photograph on Instagram on Sunday, showing herself beside Keaton at her 2021 wedding. She captioned the image,

ā€œOne year without you, mom. It somehow feels like yesterday and forever ago all at once. I’m still trying to get used to a world where I can’t call you, have you there for a hug, or go on adventures with you.ā€

Dexter, who was walked down the aisle by Diane at her wedding to race car driver Jordan White, continued her tribute on Instagram, adding,

ā€œIt’s the everyday moments that remind me just how much I wish you were still here. I love you and I miss you. Always.ā€

Duke, who works as an artist, also honored his late mother on Sunday with a carousel of three photographs, showing the two of them enjoying time together over the years. He kept his caption simple.

ā€œI love you Mom. Thinking of you every day,ā€ wrote Duke.

Among those who left messages of support in Duke’s comments section was Sarah Paulson, who had shared her own separate tribute to Diane hours earlier. Paulson, who is fifty-one years old, left three red heart emojis on Duke’s post. Duke sent three red hearts back in return.

Paulson’s own tribute, shared via Instagram on Sunday, October 11, featured a photograph of herself and Diane Keaton laughing together, both with their hands raised above their heads. She wrote,

ā€œOne year. Impossible. Laughing with you will always be what I remember most. I love you.ā€

Days after Diane Keaton's death, Paulson had described her grief as a

ā€œprofoundly sad time.ā€

As per a report shared by The Hollywood Reporter, Paulson opened up about the loss at the premiere of All’s Fair in October 2025, sharing,

ā€œI can’t talk about it in any way that’s articulate other than to say that for all you knew and loved about her as a performer, she was even more as a friend.ā€

Shortly after Duke joined the family, Keaton opened up about the experience of becoming a mother. As per a report shared by Life Magazine, she shared in 2005,

ā€œThe shocking thing is that I worry differently now. Before kids, if I worried, it was only about myself, but that’s all you do is worry as a parent. It’s rule number one in parenting: secretly worry without letting the kids know you’re worried.ā€

Duke, even as a young child, showed a natural eye for photography. The mother and son were spotted sitting courtside at a Los Angeles Lakers game in 2009, and Duke spent much of his time there snapping photographs with a digital camera. He even managed to get a close-up shot of NBA legend Kobe Bryant.

Diane Keaton had previously reflected on her decision to become a mother in the first place. Speaking to Ladies’ Home Journal in 2008, she said,

ā€œI didn’t think that I was ever going to be prepared to be a mother.ā€

Diane Keaton then explained what ultimately pushed her toward the decision, adding,

ā€œMotherhood was not an urge I couldn’t resist, it was more like a thought I’d been thinking for a very long time. So I plunged in.ā€

As per a report shared by People back in October 2025, a friend of the Oscar winner revealed that Keaton’s health had declined rapidly in her final months. The friend told People,

ā€œShe declined very suddenly, which was heartbreaking for everyone who loved her. It was so unexpected, especially for someone with such strength and spirit.ā€

The same source added that Keaton’s closest family had made a deliberate decision to keep things private during that period, sharing,

ā€œIn her final months, she was surrounded only by her closest family, who chose to keep things very private. Even longtime friends weren’t fully aware of what was happening.ā€
