Sources tell PEOPLE how Rihanna is doing after a woman allegedly opened fire on her home in Beverly Hills, Calif.
A source says the star "doesn't understand why someone would target her family"
A second source says Rihanna is "freaking the f out" over the incident
Rihanna is still reeling after her Beverly Hills home was hit with gunfire on Sunday, March 8.
A source tells PEOPLE that the incident was "terrifying" for the star, but "thankfully everyone is safe."
Rihanna, 38, was relaxing at home when the suspect, believed by police to be Ivanna Ortiz, 35, allegedly opened fire on the house with an AR-15-style rifle while parked outside. Ortiz fled the scene, but was later arrested and booked on suspicion of attempted murder.
"Even with a great security team in place, it’s scary to realize that something like this can still happen," the source says. "Rihanna heard the shots, but was initially confused about what happened. She doesn’t understand why someone would target her family."
A second source adds that the Fenty Beauty mogul “is freaking the f out” over the incident, which took place at the home she shares with partner A$AP Rocky and their sons RZA, 3½, and Riot, 2½, and daughter Rocki, 6 months.
A rep for Rihanna did not immediately respond to request for comment.

Officers responded to a report of shots fired at the residence around 1:15 p.m. local, a representative for the Los Angeles Police Department told PEOPLE.
Ortiz fled the scene, but was taken into custody after police located her car at the Sherman Oaks Galleria Shopping Center, according to CBS News.
An LAPD spokesperson said that the weapon was recovered, and the incident remains an active LAPD Robbery Homicide Division (RHD) investigation.
A police source involved in the investigation tells PEOPLE that the gunshots mainly impacted the home’s exterior gates and walls.
Ortiz’s bail has been set at $10.225 million.
A motive for the shooting remains unclear. No injuries were reported.
