Jelly Roll's shift in political stance has ignited fresh controversy, with Fox News personalities ridiculing the country star's dramatic weight loss and suggesting he was "nicer" before slimming down.
The backlash followed Jelly Roll using his final guest-hosting slot on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to push back against assumptions that he supported President Donald Trump. "I liked him better, you know what, doc? I liked him better when he was fat," conservative pundit Tomi Lahren remarked during an on-air discussion.
This came on the heels of Jelly Roll breaking down in tears as he expressed regret over staying silent about his political views at the Grammys. "I liked him better. I thought he was nicer, you know, he, he just talked about his redemption journey then and whether you like his music or not. I liked it when he talked about redemption and he talked about cleaning his life up. Now he got skinny and mean." It comes as Jelly Roll broke down in tears on his final night hosting Jimmy Kimmel Live!

The hosts then leveled accusations at Jelly Roll of fat-shaming Trump, after the singer recently joked about the president's weight and fitness. "And what about fat shaming? I guess you can do that if you're a Democrat, right? You're not allowed otherwise," Marc Siegel chimed in.
"And also, the president could beat him in golf. I don't care what weight he is any day of the week. I mean, the president's out there on the golf course, he's exercising. Sure, he could lose a few pounds, but that's not funny."

Another panelist echoed the sentiments directed at the Grammy-winning country singer. "Absolutely. I like the fatter, funnier jelly roll, and I like a just a bigger doughnut in general, you know, you want a juicy jelly roll, whether it's a jelly roll that's, and also medically it's not the weight you lose that matters, it's what your health is."

The controversy comes after Jelly Roll attempted Thursday to clarify his politics following years of avoiding a clear partisan label.
"It is funny that before this week everybody thought I was MAGA. And now they think I'm some sort of liberal snowflake," he told Kimmel's audience. Jelly Roll said attending the UFC Freedom 250 event at the White House did not mean he backed the Trump administration across the board.

"But just because I watched a fight on TV doesn't mean I support everything this administration does," Jelly Roll said. "Just like how hosting Jimmy Kimmel's show doesn't mean I have all of Jimmy Kimmel's politics.
"Sure, I lean left on some things," he continued. "But like most folks, I'm pretty down the middle. I am a Christian. I am a country music singer. I'm a farmer. I'm a bow hunter. And most of the things I eat, I prefer to get with a stick and a string. That's the truth."

The Fox segment has also drawn criticism online. One viewer wrote, "How about Trump fat-shaming everyone. I say bravo to Jelly Roll. Trump needs to be humiliated as much as he humiliates others."
Another called the exchange "so embarrassing," while a Jelly Roll defender dismissed the controversy, writing, "Jelly has more money than all of these people put together, you think he cares what you a-----s have to say?"
