Joe Manganiello responded to claims his ex-wife Sofía Vergara cosigned a post calling him “a narcissistic man.”

She allegedly shared a post from her son alluding to Manganiello.

He insisted they “read [my] book” Bloodlines.

Joe Manganiello is responding to reports that his ex-wife, Sofía Vergara, liked a post allegedly calling him “a narcissistic man.”

The actor, 49 — whose memoir Bloodlines, about his near-fatal health battle, is set to be released on Tuesday, Oct. 13 — sat down with CBS Mornings’ Gayle King on Monday and addressed his former son-in-law’s recent social media post allegedly diminishing his character.

As news of Manganiello’s book made the rounds — including snippets of his relationship to Vergara and the end of their seven-year marriage — the Modern Family star’s son, Manolo Gonzalez Vergara, shared a chart comparing the characteristics of a “good man” to those of a “narcissistic man” on Instagram.

“Remember kids, when dealing with a narcissist, it doesn’t matter how much you do for them, because they will resent you for it and nothing will ever be enough, and they’ll always somehow try to paint you as the bad guy,” Manolo, 35, captioned the post.

SofĂa, 54, then shared the post on her own Instagram Stories, adding a round of applause emoji.

King addressed the alleged insult in her sit-down with Manganiello, telling him, “They appear to be saying that basically, it’s terrible what happened to you but the bottom line is that you’re a narcissist. What do you say to that?”

“Well, I think anybody who said that should read the book first and understand what the book is actually about because it’s not about that. It’s about the suffering I went through,” Manganiello said, bringing the conversation back to his mystery autoimmune disorder — which has reportedly been passed down through generations of his family.

Bloodlines, he said, is about “survival and it’s also about hope.”

“My book isn’t about my marriage,” he insisted in his chat with King. “My book is about this journey that I went through.”

Manganiello and SofĂa got engaged in 2014 after a few months of dating. They tied the knot in a lavish wedding November 2015 before Manganiello started experiencing mysterious health issues.

He told King he spent two months in the hospital and ended up having “to remove my entire large intestine to save my life.” The autoimmune disorder he was battling turned his “about to explode” organ “into pus.” He ended up getting an ostomy bag and lost 60 pounds in two weeks.

While he reportedly writes in the book that Sofía once refused to hug him amid his health issues and ridiculed his dog, he told King thast he “absolutely” credits Sofía for saving his life.

“They had to call her as next of kin and give her options of what I would want done to me while I was unconscious, and she chose the right one,” Manganiello told King. “It bought me time. It didn’t solve the problem. The doctor still had no idea what was causing this, how to treat it, but it bought me enough time.”

Manganiello also admitted his health battle definitely put a strain on their marriage, telling King, “That kind of pain was like a flood in my life.”

“You can’t predict how that’s going to affect people,” he continued. “It affected me in a certain way. It affected her. It affected family members. It was seven years long. I was living in secret with this, only the closest people around me knew what I was going through. Because I was afraid, I was afraid I wasn’t going to make it.”

He reiterated that he and Sofía were both affected “by the trauma and the pain,” explaining “it was tough.”

Eventually, they did split in July 2023 and their divorce was finalized in February 2024.
