Kanye West’s shows in Russia canceled, venue states

(NewsNation) — A stadium in Russia that was scheduled to host two shows by Kanye West has said the events have been cancelled.

Earlier this week, Saint Petersburg’s Gazprom Arena posted on social media that the venue “did not sign any contracts for the stadium rent for the event.”

“There is no such agreement,” the post added. “Accordingly, the concert cannot take place on our site.”

West's concerts were slated for Oct. 10 and Oct. 11, according to a BBC report. The shows had been organized by Say Agency, based in Moscow.

Say Agency, via its Telegram channel, acknowledged it learned about the cancellations as the venue announced them.

"We learned about [it] at the same time as you did. As of now, the Ye concert has not been canceled," the agency wrote. "We are trying to contact the venue to find out the reason for the post and resolve the issue. We will keep you ."

West would have been the first hip-hop artist to perform in Russia since the country invaded Ukraine in 2022.
