Lowe's is opening five new stores in three states in 2026. Find out where, when they're opening, what's new inside, and everything else you .
If you have some home improvement projects on your year-end smart homeowner "to-do" list, you may be in luck: Lowe's has announced it will open two new stores in three different states in the final months of 2026.
The openings are a part of the retailer's broader effort to add stores in fast-growing markets, upgrading the shopping experience for both do-it-yourself customers and professional contractors.
"To fuel long-term growth, expand its footprint and attract new DIY and Pro customers to the brand, Lowe's plans to open 10-15 stores per year over the next several years in fast-growing markets in the U.S.," the company has said previously.
The two upcoming locations will bring Lowe's total new-store openings for 2026 to five, spanning three states. Here's where the latest stores are opening and what shoppers can expect.
Make Money: 8 dumb ways to make money (almost anyone can do this)
1. Florida
Port St. Lucie: 13845 SW Village Parkway (June 5, 2026)
Florida got the first of Lowe's new stores this year, with a location opening in Port St. Lucie back in June.
Boasting 94,000 square feet of retail space and 30,000 square feet of outdoor garden space, the new location brought an estimated 100 jobs to the community.
The Port St. Lucie location also marked the debut of several features Lowe's is incorporating into its newer stores, including redesigned kitchen and appliance showrooms, self-service paint kiosks, and an expanded selection of bath products, workwear, and pet supplies.

2. Kentucky
Walton: 12100 Towne Center Drive (October or November 2026)
Details surrounding Lowe's planned Walton store are scarce. As of this writing, the company hasn't released information about the size of the store, the departments and assortment it will carry, or how many people it will employ.
However, with the opening date set for the end of October or early November, those details will likely be surfacing soon.
3. Texas
Kaufman: 600 Kings Fort Parkway (August 7, 2026)
West Katy: 981 Heritage Oak Lane (September 4, 2026)
Willis: 12220 Interstate 45 N. (October 2026)
Texas has seen two new Lowe's locations open this year, with a third on the way.
Kaufman came first, in August, with its 95,000 square feet of retail space and 30,000 square feet of outdoor garden space. It boasts digital paint kiosks, a paint visualizer tool, and buy-online pick-up in-store zones that allow for quick order turnarounds.
The West Katy location came next, opening its doors in early September. Similar in size to the Kaufman store, the West Katy location "will be among the first Lowe's stores to debut a redesigned tool section with a simplified open layout, wider aisles and lower fixture heights that create better sight lines for both customers and associates," a company release said.
Finally, Willis will be getting a new Lowe's sometime in late October, although no exact date has been announced yet. Like with the Kentucky location, no specific details about the store have been shared yet.

What's changing in the new Lowe's stores?
The new Lowe's locations will look and feel quite different from the retailer's existing stores, as the company works to redesign its shopping experience.
Among other things, the revamped models will include:
Upgraded kitchen and appliance showrooms, with a wider selection of items and brands and interactive displays
Centralized selling desks for installation and service projects
Self-service paint kiosks
Dedicated buy-online, pick up in-store zones
The stores will also integrate several digital tools into the sales floor, including QR codes customers can scan to see online options and access a style quiz, budget calculator, and 3D visualizer that shows customers a 3D rendering of their potential projects.
Lowe's is expanding slowly
As of September 2026, Lowe's has 1,765 stores spread across all 50 states, making it a major retailer.
But as budgets tighten and consumers delay home improvement projects, it's slowed its expansion rate somewhat, choosing to focus its efforts on markets it considers "attractive for growth."
Rather than opening locations everywhere, Lowe's has been concentrating new stores in markets it considers attractive for growth. It's placing a special emphasis on growing in more rural areas, where customers are often pressed for options.
"Within a convenient shopping experience, customers [at rural Lowe's locations] can expect to find more options in categories such as pet, workwear, automotive supplies and utility vehicles," the company said. "Given the challenges rural customers often face driving long distances to shop, Lowe's is offering greater convenience with these expanded assortments coupled with a full array of home improvement products."
Lowe's is courting DIY and professional consumers
As it expands, Lowe's is working to be the one-stop-shop for both DIYers and home improvement professionals.
In early 2025, it relaunched its rewards program, bringing them into one ecosystem that makes it easier than ever for shoppers to save time and money.
For professional customers, Lowe's is also putting greater emphasis on services and tools that can help contractors manage larger projects. For example, it has come up with a seamless solution for large, special Pro orders, allowing it to "close rate on larger orders, capturing more planned Pro spend, while relying on large suppliers to execute job site delivery."
Programs like this allow the retailer to boost its sales, even as DIY growth slows.

Bottom line
For communities getting a new Lowe's, the impact can go beyond having another place to buy lumber, appliances, or paint with a best cash back credit card.
New stores bring local retail jobs, additional shopping options and, in some cases, investment in surrounding commercial developments.
Lowe's has also highlighted community partnerships and local support as part of its store-opening strategy. In 2025, for example, the company said its eight new or reopened stores resulted in more than 800 hires and more than $24,000 in donations to community organizations.
