As part of his royal responsibilities, Prince William travels throughout the UK and internationally, meeting with individuals, engaging with charitable organizations and participating in hands-on work.

While the Prince of Wales makes spending time with his family a priority, one significant responsibility requires him to travel across the country every few weeks. When William assumed the title of Prince of Wales following his father King Charles' accession to the throne, he took ownership of the Duchy of Cornwall; a vast land and property portfolio, which generates a private income for the heir to the throne of roughly $30 million annually.

It was previously revealed that William "tries to visit part of the Duchy once every four to six weeks, working his way through its farms and offices to meet families and staff, shake hands and quiz them on what he can do to help." The revelation comes as it was revealed what William is really like in his personal life.

The Telegraph noted that the Prince of Wales' visits are typically private, "rarely making the Court Circular and kept quiet by loyal locals who are used to royal comings and goings."

These frequent visits take him away from his domestic life in Windsor with his wife, Kate Middleton, and their three children - Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis - where they live at Forest Lodge. In addition to chairing a quarterly meeting of The Prince's Council and participating in various other committees, William is said to communicate with the Duchy's staff via WhatsApp.

The Duchy encompasses a vast portfolio of land, properties and agricultural holdings mainly in south-west England, covering 128,494 acres across 20 counties, with a valuation exceeding $1.3 billion.

While William remains dedicated to preserving the Duchy of Cornwall portfolio, reports surfaced in May suggesting he will allegedly dispose of 20 per cent of the portfolio over the coming decade, utilizing the proceeds to invest in addressing the housing and nature crises.

According to The Times, William plans to consolidate his Duchy of Cornwall assets around five geographic "heartlands," concentrating on the Isles of Scilly, Cornwall, Dartmoor, the Bath region and Kennington, south London.

Will Bax, chief executive of the Duchy of Cornwall, informed the publication that William determined the duchy "shouldn't just exist to own land. It should first and foremost exist to have a positive impact on the world."

Will said of the strategy to divest roughly one-fifth of the duchy estate, "If we don't see an opportunity for positive impact, then perhaps we don't need to be a part of that place.

"But where there is social need and where there is environmental challenge and where there is an opportunity to enable change, then we'll be a great partner in working with people to achieve that."

He revealed the prince intends to channel almost $700 million — drawn from land sales, development revenue, partnerships and borrowing — into his key initiatives. During a visit to Duchy farmland on Dartmoor last year, William pledged, "We're not the traditional landowner - we want to be more than that."

He continued, "The Duchy has been a positive force for good, but we can do so much more. I think the key thing is, it's about not losing the important community and historical links of the Duchy. But it's also about making sure we're building on and enhancing, modernising the Duchy. We're going to modernise it without losing its key spirit of community."
