Witherspoon praised Minetree as talented and kind

Reese Witherspoon is passing on a stylish torch to Lexi Minetree.

In honor of the 25-year-old's starring role in the Legally Blonde prequel series Elle, Witherspoon, 50, has shared a few pieces she wore when she originated the character of Elle Woods in the 2001 film.

Earlier this month, Minetree wore the same pink Marc Jacobs dress Witherspoon wore to attend the Legally Blonde premiere in 2001 during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Days later, when Witherspoon made her own appearance on the late-night talk show, she revealed how the full-circle moment came to be.

"Her stylist is a friend of mine for so many years," explained Witherspoon. "And she said to me, 'Do you have any dresses from the time period?' And I have all the wardrobe in storage."

Witherspoon said that she wanted Minetree to choose "as many dresses" as she wanted, including the Marc Jacobs dress that "fit perfectly."

"It's like Cinderella's slipper," said Witherspoon. "She was meant to be Elle Woods!"

Stylist Molly Dickson also confirmed on Instagram that Minetree wore the iconic look during the Tonight Show appearance.

"All the feels 🥹💗," Witherspoon commented on the post.

Minetree paid homage to Elle Woods yet again when she attended Prime Video's 25th anniversary 'Elle Woods' celebration in New York City on June 20.

For the event, she wore a pink sequined archival Dolce & Gabbana dress.

The look was inspired by a blue sequined bodycon dress Witherspoon wore in Legally Blonde.

In a video she shared on her Instagram on June 21, Witherspoon praised Minetree as "such an incredible person" and shared what it meant to pass the "pink torch."

"I wanna say on top of being this incredibly disciplined, talented young woman, she has such a beautiful heart," she said.
