After five months apart, the Tutu Atwell and the Los Angeles Rams are back together. On Thursday, the Rams acquired Atwell in a trade with the Miami Dolphins, sending running back Jarquez Hunter to South Florida.

It’s a rare player-for-player trade with no draft pick compensation, giving the Rams another wide receiver behind Davante Adams and Puka Nacua.

Considering the trade details, it’s likely the Rams were going to cut Hunter anyway, so they now get some receiver depth in return. In terms of salary cap implications, the Rams actually come out almost even, saving a tiny bit of cap space.

According to Over The Cap, Hunter had a cap hit of $1.25 million this year. The Rams will now be on the hook for $1.2 million with Atwell, so they’ll save a little bit of money. They’re also moving on from the entirety of Hunter’s contract, which had three years and $3.3 million left.

Atwell is a bargain this year compared to what the Rams were paying him in 2025. He played on a one-year, $10 million contract last season, which was fully guaranteed.

Now, they're getting him for almost 1/10th of the price.
