Selena Gomez said she hopes to have four kids with husband Benny Blanco in a new appearance on the Friends Keep Secrets podcast
Gomez appeared on the show on Tuesday, March 3
She cited the dinner scene in The Family Stone as one of the reasons she hopes to have four children, and said she looked up to late actress Diane Keaton
Selena Gomez opened up about her family hopes with husband Benny Blanco in the second episode of the Friends Keep Secrets podcast.
Gomez, 33, appeared on the new podcast, hosted by her husband Blanco, 37, and close friends Lil Dicky (whose real name is Dave Burd) and his wife Kristin Batalucco, on Tuesday, March 3. During the episode, Blanco asked Burd, 37, and Batalucco how many children they hope to have. "One, two max," Burd answered, before Batalucco said, "like three."
"I want four, but that's out there," Gomez, who married Blanco in September 2025 in Santa Barbara, Calif., chimed in.
The Rare Beauty mogul then cited a major reason for wanting four children: a notable scene from The Family Stone, a holiday film about the unique dynamics present in an unusual family hosting their son's girlfriend for Christmas for the first time. Diane Keaton played the matriarch of the family, with Craig T. Nelson, Dermot Mulroney, Sarah Jessica Parker, Rachel McAdams, Luke Wilson and Claire Danes also starring.
Gomez noted that the character played by late Keaton, who died at 79 in October 2025, reminder her of her "nana." When Blanco chimed in to ask if Burd had seen it, the rapper replied he had not, and Gomez and Blanco described the film as "sweet" and "touching," with Gomez adding that it is "also sad."

Gomez then began explaining the scene to Burd, saying that she "can't get it out of [her] head."
"One day at my dinner table, when I'm her age, I want to see that dinner table," Gomez said. "Whatever happens, happens. If we're only able to have one, none. I hope... we don't know. But my dream for sure was that scene where they're all at the dinner table and they're just with their partners or their significant others or kids or single and it's just like this beautiful cast of characters."

"So, it's actually going to be crazy hell until they become adults," Gomez joked.
Before Gomez and Blanco married, Blanco told InStyle that he is "dreaming and praying" to become a dad one day.
“I love kids; I love being an uncle,” he told the outlet in June 2025. “I want to be a dad, though, God willing. I'm just dreaming and praying every day.”
