Steelers head coach Mike McCarthy made it clear that Jaylen Warren will remain the feature back, even with Rico Dowdle returns from injury.

On Monday, when Pittsburgh Steelers head coach addressed the media, he was asked about the absolute tear running back Jaylen Warren has been on over the past three weeks. At the same time, the media wanted to hear from McCarthy about what was going to happen when running back Rico Dowdle returns from his toe injury.

McCarthy was clear about his stance on Warren and what he's accomplished and certainly sounded like he was going with the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mindset.

“Jaylen is our featured player right now," McCarthy said. "Let's make sure we all recognize that. He's hot. … It’s important for us as an offense, coaches and players alike, to continue to put him in position to make plays. That won’t change.”

In the last three games, Warren has 321 rushing yards and 169 receiving yards. Last week, against the Indianapolis Colts, Warren had an 80-yard touchdown reception and a 50-yard rushing score.

The biggest mistake McCarthy could make is to bring Dowdle back and turn the backfield into a committee situation. Warren has earned the right to be the lead back and is putting up crazy numbers without a ton of wear and tear. During his elite three-game stretch, Warren is averaging only 20 touches per game.
