Can a romantic comedy starring a woman truly be great without a signature dress? Technically, yes (of course), but a visually striking makeover or an elegant gown can go a long way toward cementing a movie's legacy.
For a dress to really pop, we usually see some sort of growth in our leading lady, from unfashionable to chic. In other instances, our protagonist is a true fashionista whose one ensemble in particular is simply to die for.
While we love a cheesy moment that shows how well a lead actress can exude glamour, we also love those instances where a dress’ memorability stems from the situation in which a character finds themselves.
Below, we're looking at 25 of the most memorable dresses in rom-com history, from stunning transformations to hilarious reveals.
