US says Bolivia anti-government protests pose grave threat to democracy

LA PAZ, June 23 - Efforts to overthrow ‌the government in ‌Bolivia represent a "grave threat" to ​constitutional order and democratic stability, the U.S. State Department said in ‌a joint ⁠statement with other regional countries on ⁠Tuesday.

A "violent minority" seeks to disregard the will ​expressed by ​majority ​of Bolivians in ‌recent elections, the State Department said in the statement, which was also issued by the ‌governments of Argentina, ​Bolivia, Canada, ​Chile, ​Costa Rica, Dominican ‌Republic, Ecuador, El ​Salvador, ​Guyana, Honduras, Jamaica, Panama, Paraguay and Peru.
